Archive Services

We help you preserve those memories for the long term. The archiving division of H&C Stader covers everything from archive development and maintenance to the operation of a corporate archive as an outsourcing service provider. With the History Hub, H&C Stader operates its own office and storage facility in Mannheim, offering a total capacity of 3.5 linear kilometers of shelving.

Our team members are experienced in managing complex archiving projects. H&C Stader Archive Services supports renowned companies such as BASF SE and Hapag-Lloyd AG in building and maintaining their corporate archives.

  • On-site inspection, inventory, and evaluation of archival materials and existing collections within the company. Assessment and appraisal of existing archives and records.
  • Archival consulting: Development of a concept for establishing a new archive or modernizing an existing one, including classification systems, archival policies, timelines, feasibility studies, cost planning, software recommendations, and preservation strategies. Advisory services on archival and legal matters such as GDPR compliance, copyright, and usage rights, as well as strategies for digital long-term preservation in accordance with the OAIS standard.
  • IT consulting: Guidance on selecting and implementing suitable archival information systems (archive databases) or integrating them into existing CMS, DMS, or ECM systems and other databases.
  • Cataloguing and indexing of analog and digital archival materials, preferably carried out at our headquarters in Mannheim, where we have the necessary scanners and packaging materials. Includes appraisal and disposal (archival-grade disposal of non-retention materials in cooperation with a certified partner).
  • In-house digitization of archival materials according to a defined digitization strategy or plan: Text documents up to A2 format, all common photographic formats including glass negatives and slides, moving images (8mm, 16mm, VHS, BetaCam), and maps or plans up to A2 (larger formats in cooperation with partner companies). Digitization can be carried out as full or selective digitization based on client needs.
  • Inquiry handling
  • research, provision, and digitization of archival materials and objects, especially those relevant for anniversaries or corporate history projects.
  • Basic conservation measures: Removal of metal components and rehousing of records in acid-free, archival-quality folders and boxes. Inspection for mold or other damage (e.g., acidic paper or mechanical deterioration).
